PBS’ “By the River” to host Kindle Book Award finalist F. Rutledge Hammes
BEAUFORT, SC — On October 31, 2019, the PBS/SCETV show “By the River” will be hosting novelist F. Rutledge Hammes for an intimate half-hour discussion about writing, the South, his Lowcountry home and his debut novel A Curious Matter of Men with Wings.
Hammes’ novel has seen some truly incredible success over the past year, including having earned the high honor of being named a 2019 Kindle Book Award finalist and its author being named the 2019 South Carolina Arts Commission Prose Fellow.
In its second season, the SCETV show “By the River” has already hosted much of the South’s literary elite, from the well-established to the emerging voices that make up the rich tapestry of the South’s breathtaking literary landscape. Hammes joins the fraternity of such notable previous guests as Patti Callahan Henry, Mary Alice Monroe, Tim Conroy, Bren McClain and Cassandra King Conroy.
